Growing up in a small town in western Kentucky, we used to sit out at night under the starry sky as a family to watch "shooting stars." With this juvenile understanding, I would focus intently on a single star hoping that would be the one to take off and streak across the sky. It never happened that way and I felt a bit deflated when we retired indoors for the night.
However, it just might have sharpened my powers of concentration. I can gaze deeply into Nothingness for no good reason.
I still scan the sky for my lucky star to take off without prior notice.
