SPACE BEADS

Mardi Gras beads after the crowded parade

lie lonely at night on the wet black pavement

some broken with loose ends

some lying in shiny gold spirals

some lying in shimmery green amorphous amoebas

some lying in sparkly purple clusters

many separated spaced apart with black

all awaiting the next collision.

Like individual solitary galaxies

in the vast blackness of space

some floating in shiny gold spirals

some floating in shimmery green amorphous amoebas

some floating in sparkly purple clusters

some shredded by galactic collisions with ragged ends

all waiting to unravel at the end of time.

Like those monuments to individualism

isolated personal Webpages

floating alone in cyberspace

sparkly shimmering images

with tenuous ties

to the parade that left them behind.
